Inside the cage of a professional MMA fight is one of the fiercest modern day battlegrounds there is…it is NO JOKE.

All bottom positions in mixed martial arts are dangerous…period.  When someone is on top of you seeking an opportunity to punch you in the face, well, you better be prepared for it.

FIERCE BATTLEGROUNDS...do not be the guy on bottom.

Anyone who has even seen UFC more than once can attest to how bad of a position bottom mount is…nevermind those who have been in bottom mount.

Below Coach Dan shows us how to get out quickly, effectively, and (hopefully) as safely as possible.  Now, my students are always telling me this escape from bottom mount is difficult… I look at them and say “I know.” lol There is no such thing as an easy escape from bottom mount!

If you allow yourself to be put into a disadvantageous position, then it is never going to be easy getting out of there! Nobody said it would be.  But the more you practice your mount escapes the easier it will become…just like anything else.

Just like in any other bottom position, getting on your side to face your opponent (or in this case to face one of your opponent’s legs) is crucial.  Bottom halfguard, bottom sidecontrol, heck even in bottom closed guard you need to cut an angle to hit any sweep or submission.  Keep that in mind while watching this video right from the beginning.

Being flat on your back is NO GOOD…on any battle field or battlegrounds.
